Abstract
|
In the framework of SHARE project, in June 2012 the Portella Climate Observatory (OCP) has been installed at 2.401 m a.s.l
on Mt. Portella in the Gran Sasso chain in collaboration with University of L’Aquila – CETMPS.
OCP is the highest mountain station of the Apennines, near the Calderone glacier (the southernmost of Europe). It is a strategic
site to observe the chemical, physical and climatological changes of the atmosphere in the Mediterranean basin.
Geografical coordinates:
Latitude: 42°26'52.96" N
Longitude: 13°33'02.41" E
Elevation: 2.401 m a.s.l.
|
Purpose
|
The Portella Climate Observatory records in continuous the main meteorological parameters, ozone and NOx concentrations and
size particle distribution. Moreover, an inlet in pyrex has been installed according to the GAW directives in order to sample
atmosphere gases in trace.
