The second italian permanent station was installed on August 14, 2007, on Dosdè Glacier. This station located at 2850 m asl permits to collect data on above glacial thermal conditions and incoming and outcoming energetic fluxes.
This automatic weather station represent the highest Lombardy permanent station on glacier and its data can be comparable to those collected by AWS Forni in order to verify the effects of climate change on glacial size and micro-meteorological parameters.
Geographical coordinates:
- Latitude: 46° 23’ 33.944” N
- Longitude: 10° 13’ 3.359” E
Dosdè AWS provides data (with a 60 minute time resolution) of the following parameters:
- air temperature (°C)
- relative humidity (%)
- atmospheric pressure (hPa)
- snow depth (m)
- incoming shortwave radiation (W/m2)
- outcoming shortwave radiation (W/m2)
- incoming longwave radiation (W/m2)
- outcoming longwave radiation (W/m2)
The automatic weather stations (AWS) for monitor meteorological conditions are currently included in the SHARE network.
An automatic weather station (AWS) is defined as a “meteorological station at which observations are made and transmitted automatically” (WMO, 1992a).
In particular, in the framework of the SHARE project for all parameters, the data has been visually checked, looking for extremely and unusual low/high values and/or periods with constant values.
